14 August 2024

On August 14, 2024, the 80th anniversary of the formation of Tyumen region will be celebrated. For many years, this region and the Presidential Library have successfully developed close cooperation aimed at preserving and promoting the historical and cultural heritage of Russia.

Vladimir Yakushev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in Ural Federal District and temporarily acting Secretary of the General Council of the United Russia Party, who previously served as Governor of Tyumen Region, was part of a working group that contributed to the creation of the Presidential Library. The library, which has been operating on the basis of Mendeleev Tyumen Regional Scientific Library, was founded in 2011.

On June 16, 2022, at the XXV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District and the Presidential Library.

To date, 155 remote access points to the resources of the Presidential Library have been established in Tyumen region. This has made it possible to cover all cities and districts of the region with a single network, opening up the opportunity to study materials from the electronic national repository, which contains more than one million depository items.

Scientific and cultural institutions in Tyumen region have contributed about 70,000 documents to the Presidential Library's collection, including digital copies of publications on ethnography, history, economics, and local history. In the electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library, users can access rare publications from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, such as the "Yearbook of the Tobolsk Provincial Museum," "Tobolsk Diocesan Gazette," the magazine "Siberian Issues," files of local newspapers like "Sickle and Hammer" from 1946-1948 and "For Communism" from 1962-1963, as well as "Leninskaya Pravda" from 1980-1986.

The cooperation between the Presidential Library and Tyumen Region is also expanding in other fields. Students from the region actively participate in the Presidential Library's interactive Olympiad Russia in the Electronic World each year and traditionally win prizes. During this Olympiad, 80 students from Tyumen region were winners.

In 2023, employees from educational organizations in Tobolsk district of Tyumen region participated in distance learning at the Presidential Library under the additional professional development program titled Improving Educational Effectiveness through the Use of Digital Resources from the Presidential Library.

The Tyumen branch of the Presidential Library regularly organizes various scientific, educational, and cultural events. It actively cooperates with federal, regional, and municipal organizations, as well as with all entities in Ural Federal District. The library coordinates the promotion of joint projects and initiatives.

In September 2023, the X All-Russian Annual Meeting of Heads of Regional Centers and Partners of the Presidential Library took place in different locations of Tyumen, Kurgan, and Sverdlovsk Regions. The event was organized with the support of the Plenipotentiary of the President in Ural Federal District. Representatives discussed interdepartmental collaboration and priorities for the regional development of the library.

For the Presidential Library, interaction with regions is one of its key activities. A special place in its electronic collection is occupied by regional electronic collections that contain materials about various subjects of the Russian Federation.

One such collection is Tyumen Region: Pages of History, which is available on the Presidential Library's portal. This collection includes research papers, statistical materials, archival documents, and visual and audio materials that reflect the socio-economic and political aspects of the history of Tyumen region from the 16th to 20th centuries.
