Presidential Library took part in expanded meeting of Expert Council of Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russian Federation on development of historical education
On October 5, 2024, Yuri Nosov, Director General of the Presidential Library of the Administrative Directorate of the Russian Federation, presented on Historical and Educational Activities of the Presidential Library at an enlarged meeting of the Expert Council for Historical Education Development under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education within the National Forum for History Teachers.
The largest event of the Presidential Library is its annual Knowledge Forum, which traditionally brings together scientists, popularizers of science, and teachers and students from universities and colleges. During the two-day forum, several events are organized for participants, including conferences, plenary sessions, dialogues, lectures, and master classes. The theme of the Knowledge Forum is selected in connection with current events, presidential decrees, and topics relevant to the country.
The video lecture Knowledge of Russia is one of the main educational projects of the Presidential Library. Its purpose is to popularize Russia's history in various aspects, such as events, personalities, culture, geography, legislation, and science.
Researchers, scientists, candidates and doctors of science, employees of scientific and educational institutions in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other Russian cities have traditionally delivered video lectures to visitors to the Presidential Library.
The competition of student works has been held annually since 2019 with the aim of attracting the attention of students from higher educational institutions to the electronic resources of the Presidential Library. The competition accepts term papers, final qualifying papers, and other research materials. The main goal of the competition is to promote reliable knowledge about Russia and its history, culture, and language.
Through this competition, participants are encouraged to learn more about the history of Russia's statehood and develop their skills in conducting research using archival documents and materials from the Presidential Library's electronic collection. In addition, the competition helps identify talented students and institutionalize scientific directions within student communities.
As part of its exhibition activities, the Presidential Library collaborates closely with higher education institutions. For many years, the Gorky Scientific Library of St. Petersburg State University has provided its books and documents for temporary exhibitions at the Presidential Library. Additionally, in 2023, the Presidential Library hosted an exhibition dedicated to the anniversary of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet, where visitors could see unique objects from the Academy's museum collection. And in 2024, the exhibition was dedicated to famous graduates of St. Petersburg State University who have left a significant mark on Russian art history.
One of the most promising developments is the inclusion of links to the information resources of the Presidential Library in educational, methodological, and scientific publications. This will make publications more interactive and provide teachers and students with access to reliable and verified sources.
On October 5, an agreement was signed between the Presidential Library and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The document was signed by Yuri Nosov, General Director of the Presidential Library, and Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science.
