Round table of Technical Committee for Standardization "Scientific and Technical Information, library and publishing, document management" held at Presidential Library
On October 9, 2024, as part of the V International Technology Forum Russian Standardization Week, a joint roundtable was held between the Technical Committee for Standardization 191, Scientific and Technical Information, Libraries and Archives, and the Presidential Library of the Administrative Directorate of the President of Russian Federation. Representatives from the library and archive communities attended.
Yuri Nosov, General Director of the Presidential Library, emphasized that standards are a tool to improve information management for all community members and users. He noted that the result of applying these standards is an increased demand for documents stored in libraries, archives, and museums.
The round table was attended by the scientific director of the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of Russia (GPSTB), which is the basic organization of the Technical Committee, Yakov Shraiberg; Chairman of the Technical Committee for Standardization 191, leading researcher, head of the group for the development of classification systems and standardization of the GPSTB of Russia Elena Dmitrieva; heads of the subcommittees responsible for the development of standards in the fields of scientific and technical information, librarianship and bibliographic activities, publishing and documentation management; representatives of national and regional libraries, the archival community, educational institutions, the Main Research Computing Center of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, the National Information and Bibliographic Center, a group of companies Prosveshcheniye.
The round table discussion focused on the current state and future prospects for national standardization in librarianship and bibliographic activities, as well as standardization in electronic libraries, digital services, and digital preservation. The discussion also included the use of QR codes as a tool for augmented reality in printed publications, digitalization of libraries, and the development of publishing standards.
The main event in the field of standardization is the V International Technological Forum Russian Standardization Week, which will be held at the Presidential Library from October 9-11, 2024. This event brings together heads and representatives from federal authorities, international standardization organizations, research and education centers, and industrial enterprises.
On October 10 at 15:00, the main plenary session will focus on Standardization to Achieve the National Development Goals of the Russian Federation.
The forum will host a ceremony to award the winners of the competition for the All-Russia public award Standardizer of the Year.
