
Large ethnographic dictation held in Penza region
On November 2nd, 2024, the Lermontov Penza Regional Library which houses the Regional Center of the Presidential Library, became one of the locations for the international event Great Ethnographic Dictation. The choice of this venue was not accidental, as so-called Lermontovka houses a significant number of publications in the languages of various ethnic groups and serves as a regional cultural and historical center.
The event was organized in conjunction with the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs and supported by the government of Penza region, and it was held on the eve of National Unity Day. The goal of this educational project was to promote awareness of customs, traditions, holidays, and folk costumes among participants.
The event was attended by students from the Penza College of Information and Industrial Technologies (IT College). They tested their knowledge of the culture and traditions of the people of Russia. Several students scored 100 out of 100 possible points. Representatives of the Federal Treasury Department of Penza region also wrote a large ethnographic test.
At the end of the campaign, specialists from the Regional Center of the Presidential Library organized a tour for the participants at the Penza Regional Library. During the tour, guests were introduced to the resources of the Presidential Library and the collection Penza Region: Pages of History. The collection contains archival documents, essays, research papers, statistics and other materials that cover various aspects of the region's development throughout history.
In addition to this, visitors were also presented with a thematic exhibition that provides information about the peoples who live in the Penza region, including their customs, traditions, and crafts.
