Second stage of Presidential Library's Olympiad "Russia in the Electronic World" on history, social studies and Russian language
Since December 20, 2024, the second stage of the Olympiad Russia in the Electronic World in history, social studies, and the Russian language has been held. The event is organized by the Presidential Library and the National Research University Higher School of Economics.
More than 2,600 children took part in the first round, including students in grades 10-11 and students studying in secondary vocational arts institutions. Most participants are from Tyumen, Sverdlovsk, Kurgan, Kemerovo, Novosibirsk regions, the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Republic of Crimea, St. Petersburg, the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics, and Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Yugra. Among foreign participants, the most active are the representatives from Turkmenistan.
During the competition, schoolchildren and students from Russia and other countries participate in each of the events or choose the subject they are most familiar with. The results will be determined based on the individual performances. Winners and medalists will receive diplomas. Participants who achieve the highest scores will also receive bonus points for admission to several universities, which are listed on the Presidential Library's portal.
The competition consists of three stages, all of which are mandatory. The first stage took place from September 23 to December 2, 2024, and was held remotely. The second stage will also be held remotely from December 20, 2024 to January 24, 2025. The final stage will take place in person from March 18 to March 20, 2025.
Winners and prize-winners from the previous academic year's Olympiad Russia in the Electronic World, who are continuing their studies at organizations engaged in educational activities, including those who are receiving education through family education or self-study, as well as those studying abroad or in Russia's secondary vocational programs, can also participate in the final round of the competition in the field of arts. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region's residents will gather at the Presidential Library, located in the historic Synod building on Sentae Square, 3. Participants from other regions will also participate, at the remote electronic reading rooms of the library and at its Tyumen branch.
The tasks of the Olympiad are developed on the basis of materials from the electronic library collections. This holding contains more than a million digitized copies of rare documents that constitute the historical and cultural heritage of our country. Therefore, participants can study the library's resources on the official portal to answer the questions of the competition more fully and accurately. They can also practice by looking at the tasks of previous years that are posted on the project's portal under the Archive section.
The main goal of the competition is to introduce students to working with archival sources of information about the history, theory, and practice of Russian statehood. This educational project aims to find and support young talents and promote humanitarian knowledge among young people.
It should be noted that, since the inception of the interactive educational project in 2010, tens of thousands of children have participated in it, and many of them have later enrolled in leading Russian universities.
