Presidential Library participated in meeting of Cooperation Council of National Libraries of Russia

On December 18th, 2024, the XXVIII meeting of the Cooperation Council of National Libraries of the Russian Federation was held. This year's event took place at the Russian National Library, and it was attended by heads and leading experts from the Presidential Library, Russian State Library, and Russian National Library.

During the plenary session, Yuri Nosov, General Director of the Presidential Library; Vadim Duda, General Director of the Russian State Library; and Denis Tsypkin, General Director of the Russian National Library delivered presentations on the activities of their respective libraries in 2024 and future prospects.

Yuri Nosov spoke about the main achievements of the year's work and the projects of the Presidential Library, which marked its 15th anniversary in May. They also discussed events dedicated to the Year of the Family, initiatives in the field of supporting historical education and awareness, cooperation with cultural and educational institutions in the reunified territories, international collaboration, including with cultural and scientific communities in the Republic of Belarus and libraries in the CIS countries.

In connection with the main theme of the Cooperation Council of the National Libraries of the Russian Federation, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Yuri Nosov emphasized the importance of projects related to this significant event. He spoke about the activities planned for 2024, including events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from Nazi blockade and the joint work with the Federal Archival Agency to create a collection of World War II archival documents.

This year, preparations have begun for the main commemoration of the 80th anniversary in 2025. On the eve of the upcoming celebration, thematic calendars have been prepared for 2025, one of which is dedicated to military awards from the Great Patriotic War and the other to cities awarded Hero status. An important area of work of the Presidential Library, within the framework of the Library Assembly of Eurasia, is projects aimed at preserving the shared memory of the involvement of the peoples of the former USSR in the Great Patriotic War.

At the meeting Projects on Historical Education and Dedicated to the Celebration of the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Igor Solonko, Director of the Department for Scientific and Educational Work, and Yulia Selivanova, Director of the Department for Library Interaction at the Presidential Library, represented the Presidential Library.

Igor Solonko, Director of the Department for Scientific and Educational Work, provided a detailed report on the library's historical educational projects dedicated to celebrating the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Yulia Selivanova, Director of the Department for Library Interaction at the Presidential Library, spoke about the creation of the "Poems of Victory" media resource by participating libraries of the Library Assembly of Eurasia. This resource will include video recordings of readings of poems by national poets in their native languages with Russian subtitles.

In addition, it was noted that the Presidential Library plans to hold its traditional annual Integration Forum in autumn 2025 on the theme of the Great Patriotic War, with support from the International Foundation for Humanitarian Cooperation and the Library Assembly of Eurasia.

The Cooperation Council of the National Libraries of Russia functions on the basis of a tripartite partnership and cooperation agreement. Polina Lodygina, coordinator of the Cooperation Council from the Russian National Library, presented a report on the joint efforts of the three national libraries in 2024.

The goal of cooperation between Russia's national libraries is to utilize their resources for the benefit of the advancement of national and global culture, science, and education, as well as to uncover the cultural heritage of the people of the Russian Federation. This includes developing and implementing state library policies, as well as forming a unified Russian digital knowledge space.

Annual meetings of the Cooperation Council take place at one of the three national libraries, alternating between them. The next gathering of the Cooperation Council will be hosted by the Russian State Library.
