Presidential Library participated in round table "Sovereignty as the basis of state building"

On February 10, 2025, the Presidential Library of the Administrtaive Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation took part in the plenary session of the roundtable discussion Sovereignty as the Basis of State Building. The event was hosted by the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences and dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Year of the Defender of the Homeland.

The roundtable was organized by the Institute of State and Law, the Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building of the Federation Council, and the National Center for Historical Memory under the Presidency of the Russian Federation.

In his video message to the participants of the roundtable, Yuri Nosov, General Director of the Presidential Library, emphasized: "Sovereignty is the basis on which the independence, security, and prosperity of our country are built. History has repeatedly shown that only a strong and sovereign state can protect its interests, preserve its culture, and ensure a decent life for its citizens."

The Great Patriotic War is a vivid example of the importance of unity and determination in defending one's country and its sovereignty. It led to a great victory. The Presidential Library, an electronic repository of documents about Russian history, aims to preserve and promote knowledge about the past. This knowledge helps us better understand our present and shape our future. The library provides access to unique materials that reflect the stages of our country's formation and strengthening. Yuri Nosov, emphasizing the importance of these materials, said, "For our part, we provide access to these unique materials from our collection, which reflects the stages of formation and strengthening of our country's sovereignty."

The plenary session was attended by the Director of the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and a doctor of law, Professor Alexander Savenkov; the Chairman of the Committee on Constitutional Law and State Construction of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, also a doctor of law and professor, Andrey Klishas; the head of the National Centre for Historical Memory under the President of Russia and a member of the Public Chamber, Elena Malysheva, who holds a candidate of historical sciences degree, and other prominent figures.

During the roundtable, a panel discussion was held on the topic of Historiography of Tehran, Yalta and Potsdam Agreements in the Context of Contemporary Constitutional Law, which brought together leading historians, legal scholars, government officials, and public figures to discuss this important topic.
