Video lectures marking the 160th anniversary of the Battle of Sinop to be held at the Presidential Library

November 20, 2013 the Presidential Library will hold the next video lecture timed to the 160th anniversary of the Battle of Sinop.

This historic event took place November 18, 1853 at Sinop, where the Russian fleet won a great victory over the Turkish army during the Crimean War of 1853-1856. The significance of the victory of Russian sailors will be described by the doctor of historical sciences, professor of the Faculty of History, Leonid Vyskochkov; also through video conference will speak the experts from the Military Historical Museum of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia and the National Museum of the heroic defense of Sevastopol. The lecture timed to the historic date, will be broadcast live on the Presidential Library’s website. The broadcast begins at 10:00 a.m. Moscow time.

The open lecture will be attended by students from universities and naval institutions of St. Petersburg; representatives of the Tyumen branch of the Presidential Library will join the discussion through video conferencing.
