Chairman of the Central Election Commission Vladimir Churov highly appreciated the work of the Presidential Library
Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Vladimir Churov visited the Presidential Library, its exhibition halls and current expositions within the IV St. Petersburg International Legal Forum. During the meeting, he congratulated the staff of the library with its 5th anniversary and presented a memorable gift – a rare edition of 1898, "German knightly orders “For Merit to the Fatherland." This book, written in German, is a catalog of German knightly orders and allows us to trace the history of relations between Russia and Germany. As noted, the publication will be digitized in the Presidential Library and will be made available for a wide range of readers and all those interested in the history of heraldry.
In his speech, Vladimir Churov, praised the work of the first electronic national library in the country. "The Presidential Library in quite a short period of its existence has become one of the leading and largest centers of culture and education in the Russian Federation. Acting as a modern information center, thanks to having no analogues in the world center of digitizing and processing, the library provides general access to its collections, including rare and especially valuable publications, previously unavailable to the general reader," noted Vladimir Churov.
He also stressed that the Presidential Library and the Central Election Commission have friendly relations and business ties in the field of information exchange, organization of joint activities. For example, earlier the library received to a number of editions of the CEC of Russia. On the eve of the elections, the single day of voting in 2013, the library hosted the All-Russian seminar with the chairmen of election commissions of subjects of the Russian Federation. In January 2014, the CEC of Russia held an exhibition devoted to constitutionalism in Russia, and the Presidential Library was one of the institutions, which provided materials for it. Election Commission of the Russian Federation also maintains close and fruitful relationship with the first national electronic library of the country. For example, in April this year, the Presidential Library held workshops with members of election commissions of municipalities of St. Petersburg, which addressed the issues related to the preparation and conduct of elections of deputies of local councils of intercity municipalities of St. Petersburg on September 14, 2014.
