Russian language abroad: Exhibition in Tel Aviv marks the International Mother Language Day
The Russian Cultural Center Library in Tel Aviv has opened an exhibition timed to the International Mother Language Day. Its motto is “We’ll preserve you, Russian language…”
The problem of preservation of the Russian language is rather urgent in Israel, which is a home to a large number of compatriots, for whom the Russian is a native language. The exhibition of editions from the collection of the Center’s Russian language classroom is intended both for professionals — philologists and Russian language and literature teachers, journalists, and for those who are anxious to preserve Russian language in the family. The exposition puts on show academic dictionaries and encyclopedias, as well as popular magazines and professional journals, which put the spotlight on urgent problems of learning and teaching Russian language.
The exposition also puts on display colorful ABC books, textbooks, readers and other teaching aids aimed at children from families of compatriots.
The exposition’s multimedia section offers computer programs called to help learn the Russian language and educational games for kids. Visitors of the exhibition also have a chance to take dictation tests and check their literacy.
