Regions of Russia: Tver Book Week kicks off

Tver Book Week is a large-scale action launched by the Tver Oblast Department of Culture, A.M. Gorky Tver Regional Library, which is called to sum up the results of the publishing industry in Tver in 2010 and familiarize readers with latest publications of local publishers. This time the Week is being simultaneously held at all central and municipal libraries as a common action on the whole territory of Oblast and is focused on the Year of Military Glory in Tver Oblast and books about the Great Patriotic war.

The 17th Tver Book Week was solemnly opened on February 15 2011.

The program called “Turning over the pages of Tver books” features laureates of the Tver Oblast Governor’s award in the field of culture and art; publishing programs of Tver Oblast Administration; books, which were issued  to mark 65th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic war; best editions of municipal authorities.

Participants of the event familiarized themselves with book exhibitions “Best Tver books 2010: from the collection of A.M. Gorky Tver Regional library” and “Published in Rzhev”, a photo exhibition of works by Vladislav Golubev (Rzhev).

On February 16 2011 the A.M. Gorky Tver Regional library is opening a “Tver book — 2010” exhibition.

The last day of the Week will see the results of the work of the exhibition, the winner of the “Best Tver Book - 2010. Reader’s choice” poll and the literary award ceremony “Rodnik” named after Ye. I. Sigarev for the young author’s first book.
