Internet resources: Google revamps Gmail and Docs

On August 12, 2011 Google Corp. presented a series of user interface updates for its mail and cloud-based document editors Gmail and Google Docs. The company says that the announced new features will help users to manage their electronic correspondence in a better way by implementation of a new inbox preview pane. Above all, users are now able to scroll through giant lists of incoming messages and mark some of them without reading.

The company has also revamped user interface for mobile devices. There is now a higher-resolution interface, new animation transitions, when the user moves to different pages, as well as a number of other improvements, that allow using some new options available in modern mobile devices.

As to the updates in Google Docs, they include “keyboard shortcuts” and some navigation elements of interface. While working with electronic tables in Docs it has now become easier to copy and insert tables and various data inside one document. There are some other new options which enable users to manage documents with the mouse.
