Memorable dates of Russia: International Research Conference “Imperial Lyceum in Tsarskoe Selo in the History of Russia between 19th – 21st Centuries” launched in St. Petersburg

October 19th 2011 saw a 200th foundation anniversary of the Imperial Lyceum in Tsarskoe Selo – Russia’s first specialized educational institution which prepared public servants.

On October 20th - 21st the Tauride Palace is launching the International Research Conference “Imperial Lyceum in Tsarskoe Selo in the History of Russia between 19th – 21st Centuries”.

The plenary session will bring together descendants of Alexander Pushkin and other famous Lyceum alumni, representatives of federal authorities, Board of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of Russia, outstanding historians, philologists, culture experts, museum’s research workers, and specialists in public administration.

Apart from the plenary session the conference will mount four sections:

- Lyceum in recollections of Lyceum alumni’s descendants;

- Traditions of public servants’ training in Russia;

- Historical experience of Russian diplomats’ training;

- Role of Lyceum graduates in preparation and putting into action the reforms of the Russian Empire legislation.
