Museums: “Honoring of Rembrandt. The State Hermitage Museum in Padua” exhibition in Italy

29 November 2011

A new exhibition “Honoring of Rembrandt. The State Hermitage Museum in Padua” is opening on November 29th 2011 at the Civic museum of Padua, Italy.

The exhibition showcases two paintings by Rembrandt - “Portrait of an Old Man” and “Portrait of an Old Woman” from the collection of the State Hermitage Museum.

Late works by Rembrandt painted in a wide expressive way relate to famous masterpieces of the Hermitage collection where they occupy an honorary place in Dutch Gallery. Among them are two expressive paintings, known in literature as “Portrait of an Old Woman” and “Portrait of a Jewish Old Man”. This is for the first time that the State Hermitage Museum loans those paintings to Italy.
