Russian culture abroad: “Russian Room” to open in the Kennedy Center in Washington
“The Russian Room” is to open next year in the John Kennedy Center of Visual Arts in Washington.
The project implies the transformation of one of the halls of the Kennedy Center into an exhibition center in order to feature collections of Russian museums and projects-winners of competitions organized by the Potanin Foundation “Changing Museum in a Changing World” and “The First Publication”.
According to the project’s author, the objective of “The Russian Room” is to show the foreign public new, unknown pages of Russian history and culture in order to change stereotypic notions of Russia which exist in the USA.
“During the 40 years of its functioning, the Kennedy Center has played an important role in the development of relations between the USA and Russia presenting on its scene eminent Russian cultural and art workers”, - states the message of the Russian embassy.
