Memory of Russia: Historical events of 1613 re-enacted in Kostroma

The re-enactment of historical events of 1613, based on Hypatian Chronicle, is running March 27 2012 in Kostroma by Hypatian (Ipatiev) Monastery’s Catherine Gates. Actors dressed in costumes of 17th century, will present to the spectators the ceremony of seizing Russian throne by the first representative of the Romanov Dynasty – Mikhail Feodorovich.

The ceremony is timed to the Day of a wonder-working Mother of God of Feodor Icon and is devoted to the feat of Ivan Susanin, Mikhail Romanov’s election as a new Tsar and the end of the Time of Troubles.

The theatrical performance “Historical Day” performed by a troupe of actors of Ostrovsky Drama Theatre, will become one of the most spectacular events of Romanov Festival, which following the tradition is held in Kostroma.
