Information technology and libraries: Library funds of Rybinsk will be digitized

As part of the city target program "Preservation and development of the culture of urban district in the city of Rybinsk 2011 - 2014 years" for the Rybinsk libraries was purchased a high-performance scanner of books ATIZ BookDrive Pro, which allows to transmit the book into electronic format to the A2.

Using this scanner allows the book to reveal 120 degrees without causing it harm, as well as to scan at high speed and get the high image resolution and quality of digital cameras.

The scanner is installed in the F. Engels Central City Library. Rare books from the funds of the library will be transmitted into electronic form and will be available to readers. The primary task is the digitization of filings of the city newspaper "Rybinsk news" from the 1940s.

In the long term there is the acquisition of IRBIS, creating of a single electronic catalog and book funds in digital form, the connection of all 18 branches to a single electronic network of city libraries and the installation of computers for readers.
