Memory of Russia abroad: Conference, dedicated to the memory of Sergius of Radonezh, to be held in Moscow

The conference dedicated to the memory of Sergius of Radonezh will be held in 2014 in Paris. This was announced by the speaker of the State Duma, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the charity Foundation for the Preservation of the spiritual heritage of Sergius of Radonezh, Sergei Naryshkin.

“Next year, under the patronage of the Russian Historical Society, we are planning to hold in Paris for our compatriots a conference in which the name of Sergius of Radonezh once again will remind us of our shared history”, - he said during a visit to the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra and the Moscow Orthodox Theological Academy in connection with the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the Christianization of Rus.

In his turn, the executive director of the spiritual heritage of Sergius of Radonezh Peter Alexandrov-Derkachenko added that in the framework of celebration of the 700th anniversary of the birth of Saint it is planned to open three monuments in the capitals of the CIS: in Kiev, Minsk and Astana. “The highlight of the celebration will be the opening of the monument “Sergius of Radonezh blessing Dmitry Donskoy” in the Kulikovo field. This monument will be comparable with the monument to Minin and Pozharsky”, - he stressed.
