On July 23, 2013, the State Historical Museum (Moscow) presented the exhibition of the works of All-Russian Open competition for the architectural and sculptural monumental solution of "Russian Heroes and Soldiers Who Fell in the First World War" memorial in the capital of Russia.
All presented works are by the participants in the competition.
An initiative to establish the monument to the fallen in battle soldiers belongs to the descendants of the victims of war - the members of the Russian military-historical society. The society’s appeal was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and by the Government of Moscow. The monument will be installed in Moscow's Victory Park on Poklonnaya Hill.
For the modern Russia this war is "unknown", although the millions of Russians passed through its crucible, and the country has suffered a huge losses. The memory of those was overshadowed by the events of the Civil War, and then the Great Patriotic War. A monument of Russian heroes of the First World War is an essential turn to perpetuation the memory of the soldiers who selflessly fought for their native land.
Visitors can see the best sculptural models of the monuments that are recommended by the jury of the contest for public discussion and displaying at the Historical Museum. Graphic materials complementing the models give an idea of how a future monument will integrate into the Poklonnaya Hill park ensemble. Multimedia presentations of all partaken in the competition work could be viewed on additional video displays.
A winner will be called at the exhibition closing.
Please, feel free to vote for favorite project presented at the competition.
