The Library of the State Hermitage Museum will be located in the building of the third stage of the museum storage in the Primorsky district of the city, which is scheduled to complete in 2018, said the director of the Hermitage Mikhail Piotrovsky.

“This will be the library with a museum bias”, - said Piotrovski to reporters after learning of planning, three-dimensional and architectural characteristics of the third stage of storage to the Town Planning Board of Petersburg. He added that the library would be “a very large electronic saturation”. Piotrovski said that now the Hermitage Art Library is available only to specialists of the museum and experts.

In his turn, one of the authors of the project architect Valery Lukin said that the third phase involves the construction of three facilities: the 60-meter cube of the building, which will house a library, and an open storage, maintenance building, and overpasses, which will connect the building depository different queues separated by the railroad.

According to the authors, one part of the library in the new building will be accessible to researchers and students, and the second will be the public. The complex is also planned to be adapted for public and urban activities to that end, it offers an open podium.
