World history: The meeting of the Organizing Committee for the activities, associated with the 100th anniversary of the World War I took place in Moscow

October 15, 2013 the Chairman of the State Duma, the Chairman of the Russian Historical Society and the Chairman of the National Organizing Committee for the activities, associated with the 100th anniversary of the World War I Sergei Naryshkin held his second meeting.

Addressing the participants of the meeting, the Chairman of the State Duma said that learning the lessons of the World War I and the memory of its victims - the problem of the world and the European Community.

The participants of the meeting spoke about the work done so far. Much has been done: the work on the monument to the heroes of the World War I, which will be installed on Poklonnaya Hill has started, now it is preparing a historical reconstruction of battles in the Kaliningrad region, and are launched major publishing and cinema projects.

“August 1, 2014 in Saint-Petersburg we will hold a public International Scientific Forum “Russia in the Great War”. And this forum by our plan will contain a symbolic return of Russia into the community of nations who honor the memory of the victims of the World War I”, - said Sergey Naryshkin.

The Chairman of the State Duma also intended to appeal to the leaders of the European Parliament with a proposal to adopt a common declaration of parliaments of Europe, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II. We plan to create unique museums of the World War I in Tsarskoye Selo and the Historical Museum. In addition, in 2014 are expected major international exhibition and cultural research projects. For example, the State Historical Museum will host an exhibition, for which their exhibits will be provided by museums of Germany, France and other European countries. The purpose of the project is to show the cause of the stroke, the results and the value of the World War I for Russia.

For more information on the most interesting and large-scale events was told by the Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee, the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky. It is about the planned cycles of scientific conferences, on the establishment of a museum of World War I in Tsarskoye Selo, about digitization projects of various archival materials to create a cycle of documentaries and feature films about the preparation and publication of books on this period of history. In addition, he said, in the contest to the participants of the World War I it were marked three of the best works, the work of the winner will be set in Moscow and opened on August 1, 2014, the other two can be installed in Saint-Petersburg and Kaliningrad, cities historically closely related to the events of the war.
