
International events: Exhibition “Egypt – Russia: Expedition Diary” in the Library of Alexandria in Egypt
December 11, 2013 at the Library of Alexandria opened an exhibition "Egypt - Russia: Expedition Diary", which is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Egypt. The exhibition, organized under the auspices of the Russian Embassy in Cairo, the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Alexandria with the participation of Rossotrudnichestvo in Egypt, is a logical conclusion of a three week creative expedition to the Land of the pyramids of nine Russian artists led by a member of the Artists Union of Russia V. N. Anisimov this spring.
The main purpose of the expedition was to open an unknown for the majority of Russians Egypt, in particular, its northern part, including located in the Western Desert oasis of Siwa, where the ruins of the famous temple of Amun-Ra are located. In addition, members of the expedition were engaged in gathering of artistic material in Wadi Natrun, which is considered to be the center of Coptic monasticism, as well as Cairo and Alexandria.
After a week’s stay at the Library of Alexandria “the expedition diary” will be shown in Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and other cities of Russia.
