
Internet and history: Virtual Museum of the sunken Russian ship of the XIX century “Lefort” created in the network
Russian battleship of the XIX century "Lefort", resting on the bottom of the Baltic Sea, can now be seen in the virtual museum online. Its presentation took place on February 13, 2014. The museum hosts digital copy of the volume of the battleship.
The International team of searchers of the underwater exploratory project "Bow to ships of the Great Victory" together with the Russian Geographical Society implemented a research project on a warship of the Imperial Russian Navy of the XIX century "Lefort" and the creation of the first virtual museum of the ship, which will allow anyone to make in it a virtual tour.
The initiative to create a virtual museum was expressed immediately after the discovery of a sailboat and offered to President of Russia Vladimir Putin during his visit to the island of Hogland.
Now, less than a year after the discovery at the bottom of the Baltic Sea of the battleship "Lefort", all Internet users are able to make the first virtual tour of the ship and touch the history of the XIX century on the site http://www.lefortship.ru
This is the first virtual museum such a high level that is available to users of the Network. The International expedition participants "Bow to Ships of the Great Victory" are confident that such a museum, on the one hand, will protect property from looting and destruction and on the other - will allow using modern digital technologies make it available on the Internet for a wide range of audiences.
