Information technology and museums: Virtual branches of the State Russian Museum opened in Saint-Petersburg and the Leningrad region

January 30, 2014 in the N. V. Gogol Central District Library of the Krasnogvardeisky district of St. Petersburg opened the 136th informational and educational center "The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch".

The participation of the N. V. Gogol Library in the project "The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch" opens up new opportunities for readers to explore the rich art collection of the State Russian Museum. The latest technology will enable library specialists to expand the already established educational projects, as well as spend a whole range of activities within the project "The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch", will create opportunities for collaboration between the N. V. Gogol Library and the State Russian Museum in the new format.

Also on February 6, 2014 the opening of the information and educational center "The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch" took place in the Agalatovo children's art school (the Leningrad Region).

The Agalatovo Children's Art School lives bright and rich creative life. School participation in the project "The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch" allows students to get acquainted with the Russian Museum and the largest collection of Russian art, learn more about the culture and history of Russia, and opens up new possibilities for the realization of the creative potential of both pupils and teachers of the school.
