Electronic resources: Nordic Council of Ministers posted a new electronic collection in the public domain

31 March 2014

Nordic Council of Ministers has posted a new electronic collection in the public domain.

"Nordic Council of Ministers aims to develop knowledge of a wide range of problems. Open access to research strengthens the basis for further innovation both within and outside the Nordic co-operation", - says the secretary general Dagfinn Høybråten.

Electronic collection has about 3,000 publications. All of them are posted in the public domain.

The new address of the collection, which was developed by Uppsala University Library, based on Open Source software and complements the open access mandate, adopted by the General Secretary Dagfinn Hoybroten.

The mandate includes the requirement that all research results funded by Nordic Council of Ministers, should be publicly available and be available for free download.

This step was taken in order to improve access to hundreds of publications and to inform the international community that in the northern region supports democratic principles, such as transparency and equal access for all, not only in words but also in deeds.

The Nordic Council of Ministers is responsible for intergovernmental co-operation in the Nordic region and has an annual budget of a little less than a billion DKK. The Council Secretariat is based in Copenhagen.
