Libraries of the Ministry of Defense of Russia will be upgraded and incorporated into a nationwide library system. A cooperation agreement was signed with leading federal libraries of the country, reported the press service of Culture of the Ministry of Defense.

"We agreed to work together to modernize the military forces of the library, to actively implement their work in information technology, in order to integrate them into a nationwide system of libraries and use the potential of the federal exchange-reserve holdings for replenishment of military libraries", - said the press-service. In addition, in April is planned to sign a cooperation agreement with the Russian Library Association and the magazine "Modern Library".

As noted the head of Culture of the Ministry of Defense Anton Gubankov, the work with federal libraries already is underway. "Art Library gave us a solid book of the series "Best Drama", it was granted to the Central Academic Theatre of the Russian Army. Anthology "Theatre in the verses of Russian poets", prepared by this library gladly accepted a gift of military theaters - participants of the festival "Star Mask" - he said, saying that the books are now preparing to be transferred to libraries of military units.

The reform of libraries of the Ministry of Defense began in November 2013, when the Department of Culture of the Ministry signed an agreement with the M. I. Rudomino All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature, as part of which was transmitted 2.5 thousand books for the library of the Cultural Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and libraries of military units.
