To Cosmonautics Day: The Monument to Yuri Gagarin Opening in Bryansk

On April 12, 2014, in the 80-year anniversary of the birth of the first world’s cosmonaut, on Gagarin Boulevard in Bryansk will take place the opening ceremony of the monument to Yuri Gagarin, who in May 1966 had visited the Bryansk region.

The initiative to build Yuri Gagarin’s monument on the boulevard that bears his name belongs to the Government of the Bryansk Region and the Bryansk City Administration.

An author of the monument to Yuri Gagarin is a sculptor Ravil Rafkatovich Yusupov, a graduate of the Moscow Higher School of Industrial Art (former Stroganov), a member of Moscow Artists Union, the International Federation of Artists, International Art Fund, and a participant of various domestic and international exhibitions.

As a part of the Cosmonautics and Aviation Day celebration activities, in the city of Bryansk on Gagarin Boulevard will run the exhibitions of the "Boulevard Art Space” public organization, the thematic exhibitions of the aircraft modeling clubs, art schools, concert arenas of Bryansk creative collectives, the thematic shows of Bryansk planetarium.

"The Creator’s Painting" photo exhibition of the Hero of the Soviet Union and the Hero of Russia, the world record holder for the total duration of stay in space, Russian cosmonaut S. K. Krikalev will start in Bryansk City Show Room.

Photo show is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin and timed to coincide with the visit of the astronauts’ delegation in the Bryansk Region. The exhibition will remain to run in the cities and districts of the Bryansk Region until the end of 2014.

This day the students of Bryansk middle and high schools will meet with the cosmonauts.
