Information technology and libraries: The XII International Conference “Corporate library resources: technology and innovation” in Saint-Petersburg and Stuttgart
June 23-29, 2014 in Saint-Petersburg and Germany is held the XII International Scientific-Practical Conference and the exhibition “Corporate library systems: technology and innovation”. Traditionally the conference will provide forum for the discussion of issues relevant to all libraries of the country, regardless of location and subordination. Of the total range of issues the focus is on the modern information and communication technology, corporate interaction and innovation of the forms of works.
The priorities of the conference 2014 will become the following topics:
- information portals of libraries and library consortiums;
- integration of library resources and services: trends of development and practical experience;
- new technology of the search through electronic catalogues and electronic collections;
- discovery service;
- electronic library systems: monitoring of situation, practice of the use;
- electronic resources: digitization technology, control of electronic resources and databases, statistics of the use, the training of the personnel and users, legal issues.
The conference program contains of two parts: the pain program will be held in Saint-Petersburg, and the additional in Stuttgart. The main program includes sessions, round tables and sections on the topics of the conference, and will be organized an exhibition.
The additional program will be held in the University of Stuttgart. There will be presented reports about peculiarities of library processes in Germany, about the forms of interlibrary cooperation (The peculiarities for public and university libraries), about methods of selection of electronic databases, about the creation of own digital electronic collections, about the use of cloud computing. There will be held visits to the National Library of Stuttgart (ultramodern library with unusual space design), to the library of media and library case, to the library of the University of Stuttgart. In the center of HPC the participants will be able to see “petabyte”, embodies in tangible media.
