Society and culture: Moscow to be presented at the Venice Architectural Biennale

The XIV Architectural Biennale will be held in Venice from June 17 to November 23, 2014. The opening day will take place from June 5-6, 2014.

The Deputy Chairman of the Minister of Culture G. Pirumov on June 5 will take part in the opening ceremony of the XIV Venice Architectural Biennale.

Venice Biennale – is one of the most famous forums of world art, international art exhibition. The XIV International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale will traditionally present national actors with their own exhibition in the pavilion in Giardini and Arsenale, as well as in the historic center of Venice.

The Moscow Committee of Architecture took the initiative to present the space of Moscow at the exhibition on Venice as an independent project, said at a press conference dedicated to the exhibition project of the parallel program of the 14th Architectural Biennale in Venice, the chief architecture of Moscow Sergei Kuznetsov. 

The project presents a retrospective view on the development of the urban public space of the capital of Russia for the last hundreds years of its development. “We will tell how Moscow over the past 1oo years changed the accents in its development. Now the accent changed to the current for an individual space”, - said S. Kuznetsov.

Moscow will first present its pavilion on the Architectural Biennale in Venice. The new pavilion will improve Moscow’s image as one of the architectural capitals of the world.
