Peoples of the world: The Turkic world in the collection of the Russian Ethnographic Museum presented at the exhibition in Kazan

September 26, 2014 in the Exhibition hall “Manege” (Kazan) took place the opening of the exhibition “Common language - a sign” (the Turkic world in the collection of the Russian Ethnographic Museum).

The exhibition “Common language – a sign” – is the third joint project of the Museum-reserve “Kazan Kremlin” and the Russian Ethnographic Museum, implemented in the year of election of Kazan as the capital of the Turkic world. 

The main objective of the new exhibition project – is to show the Turkic world in its unity and diversity. Visitors of the exhibition will be able to know that in addition to language, Turkic people are linked by the similarity of the spiritual life and material culture, which is expressed mainly in symbolism and national ornaments.

The exhibition features about 270 items from the richest collection of the Russian Ethnographic Museum: clothing, crafts, object of applied arts, musical instruments and etc.

As part of the exhibition “Common language – a sign” are planned interactive programs, master-classes on playing traditional musical instruments, concerts, lectures and etc.
