The Year of Literature in Russia-2015: The project “Literary corner” started in Saratov with the exhibition about Vladimir Mayakovski

The Saratov Regional Museum has launched a new project dedicated to the Year of Literature in Russia. As part of the project "Literary corner" visitors will be presented the stored in the museum materials about writers and poets who lived or visited in Saratov. The exhibits will be displayed in specially allocated for this showcase and updated throughout the year.  

The first express-exhibition is devoted to Vladimir Mayakovski, who came to Saratov several times. Some works of the famous poet are associated with the visit of the city.

In 1914 Mayakovski with a group of futurists, making a poetic tour through the country, arrived in Saratov. The poem’s name “Cloud in Trousers” is associated with this poem. 

Winter 1927 Vladimir Mayakovski again comes to Saratov to speak in the hall of the People's Palace. All local newspapers wrote about this event. "Saratov news" came out with a great article of the famous Saratov journalist Nikolai Mikhailovich Arkhangelsky "Mayakovski in Saratov". The museum stores handwritten diaries of N. M. Arkhangelsky. In one of them, entitled "People and Facts" (1926-1931) there are pages dedicated to the poet's stay in the city.

In 1947 in the museum were exhibited the exhibition “Mayakovski in Saratov”. In the Literary corner is presented an exposition plan of the exhibition, as well as bibliographic reference “Mayakovski and the Saratov print for 30 years” – since 1914 to 1944 including made by Leonid Leopoldovich Lodhaus.   

Within a month the visitors and the press have the opportunity to get acquainted with these and some other authentic materials from the museum associated with the name of Vladimir Mayakovski.
