History and culture: The XII All-Russian military-historical festival of reconstruction groups of the late Middle Ages “Russian fortress” held in the Leningrad region

The XII All-Russian military-historical festival of reconstruction groups of the late Middle Ages "Russian fortress" was held in the museum of the fortress "Korela" in the Leningrad region from 3 to 5 July.

Each year the festival grows, attracting a large audience. It gathers together 500 participants-enactors and thousands of visitors from all over the country.

The festival program, which lasted three days, was intense - from the equestrian and military events, jousting before the workshops, musical entertainment and demonstrations of crafts.

Museum-Fortress "Korela" is located in Priozersk of the Leningrad region, near the confluence of the River Vuoksi to Lake Ladoga. Korela fortress of the XIV-XVIII centuries (the Kexholmsky Fortress) - an object of cultural heritage of federal importance. Old Russian fill timber fortress of the XIV-XVI centuries is built by Novgorod residents in 1310 on the Castle Island.

In XVI-XVII centuries the Swedes rebuilt strengthening of the bastion system revived with granite embankments, built in the fortress of stone buildings the Round Tower, the old Arsenal, the powder magazine. In the XVIII century in the Suvorov time was built the New Arsenal building, where since 1962, the museum has been located.
