History and culture: The work to digitize German archives was discussed at the meeting of the Presidium of the Soviet of the Russian Historical Society in Moscow

November 10, 2015 at the State Historical Museum (Moscow) is held a meeting of the Presidium of the Council of the Russian Historical Society.

Before the meeting, the chairman of RIO Sergei Naryshkin visited the historical and documentary exhibition "Russia-Germany: from confrontation to cooperation. To the 70th anniversary of the end of the World War II".

Head of the Federal Archive Agency Andrei Artizov presented a report on the work done in cooperation with German partners in the field of research and digitizing of archives, including materials of the Soviet military administration in Germany; established base of Soviet military prisoners of war who were in Germany; it is continued the work on the translation in the electronic format of captured documents. A. N. Artizov expressed the desire to intensify cooperation archives.

One of the major initiatives proposed at the meeting was the proposal of the President of the Russian Book Union S. V. Stepashin on the establishing the historical-literary prize. S. E. Naryshkin stressed that in the Year of the literature it is especially important to note the educational work of contemporary Russian writers. The first awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in December 2015.

Adopted at the session of amendments to the plan of RIO are relating to the priority projects of the monument RIO G. A. Potemkin in Sevastopol and the upcoming commemorative events in connection with the 250th anniversary of N. M. Karamzin.
