History of Russia: The exhibition, dedicated to the participation of Life-Guard of Dragoon regiment in the Russian-Turkish War of 1877-1878 in Veliky Novgorod

December 23, 2015 in the reading room of the Novgorod Regional Universal Scientific Library is opened a historical and documentary exhibition "Do you remember the valley of Novachin…" dedicated to the participation of the Life Guards of Dragoon Regiment in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878.

The exhibition "Do you remember the valley of Novachin…" - a joint project of the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Signal Corps (St. Petersburg), the Novgorod State United Museum-Reserve, the Novgorod Regional Universal Scientific Library, the Department of the Russian Historical Society in Veliky Novgorod and the Novgorod Society of antiquity.

The exposition includes copies of documents on the history of the regiment from the funds of the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Signal Corps, the State Hermitage Museum, the National Library of Russia, the Russian State Military Historical Archive, private collections in Russia and abroad. A significant part of photographs and documents are on display for the first time.

Novachin fight on November 10, 1877 - the brightest page in the history of the Life Guards of Dragoon Regiment in which the dragoons, covered themselves with everlasting glory, completed their task and diverted the considerable enemy forces. The central episode of the battle was the defense of Life dragoons of the gun of the 2nd Guards Cavalry battery.

The exhibition runs until March 8, 2016.
