The first mention of the Pomors belongs to the XVI century. Pomors for a long time were the inhabitants of the Pomeranian coast - the area along the coast of the White Sea from the mouth of the river Onega and to the mouth. Much of it is now within the borders of the Republic of Karelia of the Belomorsk district. Initially, these were migrants from Veliky Novgorod and Muscovy - a special ethnic group of the Russian people, who has mastered the White and Barents Seas.

A large section of the exhibition is devoted to shipbuilding and seafaring: Sumposadskaya nautical school released many famous sailors and captains. Among the exhibits - a textbook of the XVIII century, handwritten notebook of one of the students of the Nautical School, the magazine navigator with marks of customs services. Visitors of the exhibition will see ancient instruments of master-shipbuilder, Pomeranian model ships, navigation equipment, traps and nets, objects of trade and exchange with the Scandinavian countries, women's handicrafts and colorful costumes of the Pomors.
