
Memorable dates of Russia: Exhibitions “Meeting through the centuries” to the 250th anniversary of the birth of N. M. Karamzin in the Komi Republic
The National Library of the Komi Republic (Syktyvkar) was opened the book-illustrative exhibition "Meeting through the centuries". December 12, 2016 marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of the great historian, poet, prose writer and translator Nikolai Mikhailovich Karamzin. In honor of this date 2016 is declared the Year of Karamzin in Russia. The exhibition "Meeting through the centuries" is the first event in a series of all-Russian events to be held this year in memory of N. M. Karamzin.
Visitors will be able to see rare books and medals. The exhibition includes the complete works of Karamzin of 1914 edition of the holdings of rare books of the National Library. In addition, the exhibition presents antique editions from the private collection of I. I. Svistelnik, released in 1889: the ninth and the tenth volumes of the works of "The History of the Russian state". Also, the collector has given for its exhibition carved sculptures made from trees growing in the Museum-Estate "Ostafyevo" in which Karamzin lived and worked.
In 2006, at the estate was opened "The Cabinet of medals", a permanent exposition that introduces visitors to the national history, reflected in the monuments of the medal. The visitors will have the unique opportunity to see exactly the same medal art samples that are stored in the "Cabinet of medals" in Ostafyevo. This is a remarkable collection of exhibits of I. I Svistelnik: memorable jubilee medals dedicated to N. M. Karamzin, the Museum-estate "Ostafyevo", Princes Vyazemsky, eminent guests of homestead - Pushkin, Gogol, Zhukovsky, and the director of the Museum Reserve "Ostafyevo" A S. Korshikov.
