Information technology and libraries: Electronic copies of books from the collection Esterhazy in Moscow libraries
March 31, 2016 in the Beige Room of the Library for Foreign Literature (Moscow) is held the official transfer ceremony by the Embassy of Austria in Moscow to the Library of Foreign Literature and the State Public Historical Library of digital copies of books and periodicals of the Esterhazy collection.
The transfer ceremony is timed to coincide with the upcoming 5-6 April 2016 the official visit of the Republic of Austria Heinz Fischer, President of the Russian Federation.
The book collection of the Austro-Hungarian Esterhazy princes includes unique books written in almost all European languages, works on philosophy, theology, art, mathematics, theology, alchemy, which were collected from the XV century. In 1945 a part of the library was moved to the USSR from Esterhazy Castle in the Austrian town of Eisenstadt. In April 2013, the President of Russia signed a law on ratification of the agreement between the governments of Russia and Austria on the transfer of the Esterhazy book collection.
Digital copies of the 309 copies of the collection were produced by the Library of Foreign Literature, yet at the time of transfer of the collection, they are now available in the digital library "Foreign women". Commitments to digitize the remaining 668 copies of books and periodicals of the book collection of the Esterhazy are taken over by the Austrian side.
