Society and book culture: The first book festival in Tula

Book Festival "LiteraTula" is held in Tula on 13-15 May 2016, advised by the press service of the government of the Tula region. The organized are the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Tula region, the Leo Tolstoy Tula State Pedagogical University, children's bookstore "Korney Ivanovich", the comics store BWMComics. The main theme of this year's festival was the children's and young-adult fiction.

The festival takes place in the premises of the Tula Kremlin, in the open air. Within the festival are planned open round tables with participation of renowned writers and leading experts in the field of children's reading. There are scheduled lectures in philology during the festival, presentations of new books, and autograph sessions of authors. The Tula State Pedagogical University will host a conference for librarians and will include seminars for students.

The program includes plenty of entertainment - interactive readings, workshops, games, quests, workshops, book shows, live music.

According to organizers, the festival "LiteraTula" may be one of the pivotal events in the hero-city of Tula in the year of its 870th anniversary in 2016, and will serve as a starting point for regular regional book festival in the future.
