
History of Russia: Exposition “Railways of Russia: Through time and distances” was opened in Moscow
Until October 9, 2016 in Pavilion No. 59 at the VDNH (Moscow) the exhibition called "Railways of Russia: Through time and distances" is open. The exposition is devoted to the history of railway transport development and current projects of Russian Railways OJSC.
For the first time in the Russian history of railways, models of rolling-stock, dynamic simulators, uniforms from different historical periods, as well as interior items, photos and documents telling about the most vivid and interesting pages of the history of the establishment and development of Russian railway transport will be presented in one exposition.
The exposition is represented by the following sections with materials telling the history of the creation of Russian "pike" and the first steam locomotives.
Models of Cherepanovs steam locomotive and P-36 steam locomotive are presented here. Visitors of the exposition will be able to see the first "railway" jacket of a railway engineer, original elements of the uniform of the first Main railway joint-stock company.
"The Great Siberian Route" section provides information on the most interesting facts connected with the history of the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway, on records and prospects of development of the TransSib. Gathered in this section are interior items, dish-ware and clothing, which allows people to visualize how first-class passengers traveled in coach-sleeping cars of the Trans-Siberian express.
Visitors of the exposition will learn about the history of creation of the first "Red Arrow" train, will see the uniform that carriage hostesses wore in 1944 and 2016.
An interactive presentation about the Baikal-Amur Mainline will enable guests of the exposition to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the 1970s, learn about the work of the first Komsomol construction brigades, and see the laying of golden and silver links of the BAM. This section presents a summer parade uniform of a train driver from 1979, and a model of a shunting gas-turbine locomotive - the TEM19.
"The road to Olympic victories" section contains materials about the construction of transport infrastructure for the Olympics in Sochi, about a record setting railway stage of the Olympic Torch Relay, 83 days in duration and stretching for 17,700 km. Visitors of the exposition will be able to see the symbol of the Olympics - the torch of the Olympic flame, and take a virtual tour in a high-speed electric train - the "Swallow", which became a kind of symbol of the Games for all guests of the Olympics and Paralympics in Sochi, and to see a model of this train.
"Development of fast and high-speed networks in Russia" section collects materials on the programme of speed and high-speed traffic development in Russia by 2030, on the creation of a high-speed transport corridor Moscow-Beijing, key activities on the construction of sections of the high-speed network Moscow-Kazan. The visitors will be able take a virtual tour in a high-speed train - the Sapsan.
