The exhibition "Drawings of the old masters. Book editions of the XX century of the Radischev Museum collection" is opened on November 23, 2016 at the Art Gallery of Balakovo (the Saratov region).
The exhibition introduces to the book edition and facsimile reproductions of the best works of European and Russian artists of the late XV-early XX century of the largest Russian collections: the Hermitage, the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery and private collections.
The exhibition includes large-format reproductions of facsimile (phototype) with images from the album "Pictures of old masters of XV early XX century. History and technology". Most phototypes are created in experimental typography, Scientific Research Institute of Printing in Moscow, and are given in the original size. Drawings of the outstanding masters of different countries are made in a variety of genres, forms and techniques: portraits, landscapes, genre sketches, illustrations, preparatory sketches and studies of individual figures and heads, or completely independent works.
Of great interest are the serial book editions: "Drawings of the old masters", "Art Library", "Russian artists" (in Russian, English, French and German), "World of Art" (in German).
The exhibition gives an opportunity to outline the history of drawing from the masters of the Italian Renaissance to the early Soviet artists of the 1920s and clearly demonstrates the immense opportunities available to the art of drawing.
