The Presidential Library has reviewed its projects on the Year of Ecology

The Presidential Library has televised live in video conferencing mode on the Arkhyz 24 Channel program, dedicated to the Environmental Protection Year and the Year of Especially Protected Natural Parks in view of the 100th anniversary of the National Wildlife Protection System of Russia. The televised session was provided along the way of work of the information and educational center of the Presidential Library in The Karachay-Cherkess Republic.

“It is very symbolic that the first teleconference initiated by our institution is namely announced as a theme of the Year of Ecology. There are mainly two reserves in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic: the Teberda State National Park, which marked its 80th anniversary last year, and the Caucasus State National Park. Both parks are in the top 10 of the potential tourist interest in the reserves in Russia,” - Stanislav Belyakov, executive director of the KCR Media holding stated. He also specified that the videoconference was included in the list of events timed to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic.

A special attention was paid to the joint project of the Presidential Library and the Arkhyz 24 TV channel - the “Caucasus.doc” photography competition with the objective of drawing attention to historical events related to the development of the North Caucasus. According to the organizers, more than 3 thousand photographs were sent. All materials will add to the Presidential Library stock. In the summer of 2017 the Presidential Library will also announce the VIII “Foreign View” Photography Competition, timed to coincide with the Year of Ecology. A special nomination will be dedicated to the North Caucasus.

In addition, as part of the Environmental Protection Year the Presidential Library is preparing “The Natural Resources of Russia” digital collection, dedicated to the problems of preserving the natural environment. The archival, visual and other materials about recreational and protected areas of Russia, the ways of solving regional and global environmental problems will be in open access on the Presidential Library website. To date, the heads of 85 regions have sent letters with the proposal to offer regional Red Books, expedition materials, photography and video footages and other projects to the library stock. The Karachay-Cherkess Republic responded one of the first. On the day of the event 15 programs of the “Lets Get Going” TV program of the Arkhyz 24 TV Channel were presented in the “Topical Document” section of the main page of the Presidential Library website. The selection includes eight films dedicated to the natural, historical and cultural sightseeing of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, and seven films about other regions of the North Caucasus Federal District. Thus, in one of the programs viewers can see and feel the beauty and mystery of a group of five picturesque lakes, commonly called the “The Blue Ones.” This place is included in the list of the most popular natural attractions of Kabardino-Balkaria. In another program the audience sees the beauty of one of the most famous cities of the North Caucasus Federal District - Grozny.

Also the collection will include digital copies of photographs of the national nature reserves of the Leningrad Oblast, photographic materials from the Baikal natural biosphere park, sets of postcards on nature reserves of Russia, chronicles of the geophysical observatory published by G. Vild in 1870-1877 and M. Rykachev in 1899-1900, and many other rare archival documents.

Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Natural Resources of the Leningrad Oblast Konstantin Ostrikov and Director of the Directorate of Protected Areas of St. Petersburg Tatyana Kovaleva attended the event in presence on the premises of the Presidential Library. Representatives of the Teberda State Natural Biosphere Reserve and the Caucasian State Nature Reserve, the Department of Environmental Protection and Water Resources of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, and the Forest Administration of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic join the event at the studio of the Arkhyz 24 TV Channel.

Moscow Regional Center of the Presidential Library, which is located on the territory of the Moscow Regional State Scientific Library named after N. K. Krupskaya, and the Russian Center for Science and Culture in the Republic of Belarus joined the event in the video-conferencing mode.
