22 March 2018

The Russian Center for Science and Culture in Brest hosted regular meeting from the cycle "Counteracting the falsification of the history of the Great Patriotic War" on the topic "Contribution of partisans to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War". Senior pupils of the V. N. Karvat Brest School № 8 of the Hero of Belarus took part in it.

Issues of the role of partisan movement in the Great Patriotic War, as well as the reasons for the large-scale movement of "people's avengers" in the occupied territories were considered at the event. The pupils learned a lot about the main forms of guerrilla warfare in the Bryansk, Kalinin, Leningrad and other regions of the RSFSR, in the Karelo-Finnish and Baltic republics, on the territory of Ukraine and Belarus. Senior pupils remembered and analyzed the importance of the largest guerrilla operations "Rail War" and "Concert", which were of strategic importance for the fighting on the entire Soviet-German front. The event was completed by watching the film "Partisans" from the documentary series "The Great War".

The project "Counteracting the falsification of the history of the Great Patriotic War" allows event participants to receive truthful information about this war, which helps to navigate the flow of information about events of the past coming from various sources.

The collection "Memory of the Great Victory", featuring the section "People's Militia in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945", is available on the Presidential Library portal. It is devoted to the formation and functioning of units of the national militia, fighter battalions and partisan detachments. A separate block has also been singled out, including clandestine and partisan press and manuscript magazines published during the war years on the territory of Belarus.
