The collection World War II in Archival Documents of the Presidential Library has been enriched with more than 100 documents from Soviet intelligence agencies. These include digitized archival materials about the partisan movement from 1942 to 1944.
On July 14, 1943, the Central Headquarters of the Partisan Movement ordered the initiation of Operation Rail War. The order stated that partisan formations and detachments located near railways should, in conjunction with other sabotage activities, systematically and extensively damage enemy railways by cutting railway rails in half.
