Alexander Sergeyevich Griboyedov, whose 230th birthday anniversary is celebrated on January 15, was a talented individual who combined the roles of poet, diplomat, musician, and statesman. His melancholic nature, embittered mind, good-naturedness, and even his weaknesses and vices - the inevitable companions of humanity - were all qualities that made him extraordinarily appealing, as Alexander Pushkin described in his travel essay Journey to Arzrum during the Campaign of 1829.

Order of Saint Anna established

The Order of Saint Anna, one of the highest awards in the Russian Empire, was established on February 14, 1735 by Karl Friedrich, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp in honour of his wife Anna Petrovna, daughter of Emperor Peter I, who died in 1728. The order was brought to Russia in 1742 by their son, heir to the throne of the Duchy of Holstein, Charles Peter Ulrich, the future Russian Emperor Peter III.

In honor of the 67th anniversary of Victory, the Presidential Library has added to its “The Memory of the Great Victory” collection new documents – digital copies of books from the Natural Sciences Library under the Russian Academy of Sciences, private collections, the National Library of Republic of Karelia, the Tula Regional Universal Scientific Library, the D. I. Mendeleev Regional Scientific Library of Tyumen and the Sakhalin Regional Universal Scientific Library.

She brought to digitize the besieged diary of her father, Yuri Khazanov as well as an amazing letter by which it can be concluded that the famous writer, author of “Two Captains” Veniamin Kaverin also leafed through this diary and, perhaps, even used it when writing his books.

A meeting of the Organizing Committee for the Year of Granin was held at the Presidential Library within the framework of the VII St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum.
