World History: Mahatma Gandhi in the spotlight of an exhibition in the Central House of Artists in Moscow

The Central House of Artists in Moscow is presenting an interactive exhibition, which is dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi - the world-famous leader of the Indian independence movement. The exhibition will be open from January 30 through February 8, 2019. The display sheds light on his experience in Southern Africa, which shaped his world outlook, the struggle for independence of India and the famous Salt March.

On this day in 1589, Metropolitan Job became the first patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’, and the Russian Orthodox Church itself gained independence by withdrawing from submission to the See of Constantinople. The Presidential Library ‘s portal features a variety of digital copies of rare publications on the history of the patriarchate in our country.

February 7, 2019 marks 326 years since the birth of Empress Anna Ioannovna (1693-1740). The Presidential Library’s portal features extensive collection The House of Romanov. Zemsky Sobor of 1613, one of the parts of which is dedicated to Tsarina Anna Ioannovna, who ruled from 1730 to 1740.

The Presidential Library to pay tribute to Pushkin

On February 8, 2019 at 10:00 the Presidential Library will host the annual conference and webinar "Alexander Pushkin’s Memorial Day". Students and university professors, teachers and pupils of St. Petersburg schools, employees of the National Pushkin Museum will traditionally attend the event. Other institutions of culture and education of the regions of the Russian Federation will be also connected to event via video-conferencing mode.

An exhibition “Mikhail Speransky’s Letters to Ivan Solovyov” is open at the Vladimir Historical Museum. It showcases two original letters of Mikhail Speransky - prominent Russian statesman, who was called “Genius of Good” addressed to his friend Ivan Solovyov, with whom he studied in the Theological Seminary of Vladimir. The letters are on loan from the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve.
