The Smolensk Ascension Monastery. The Ascension Cathedral
The cathedral was built in the late XVII century. In the late 1920s the cathedral building was given for the needs of the club of workers of the Typography named after Smirnov. During the Great Patriotic War the temple was badly damaged, then in 1968 - 1969 years it was restored and after that the exhibition hall of Smolensk State National Park and Museum was opened at the cathedral’s building. Currently, the Ascension Cathedral serves for public worships.
