The Presidential Library will unite the regions on the eve of the FIFA World Cup

May 29, 2018 on the eve of the FIFA World Cup the Presidential Library (Senatskaya Square, 3) will host a roundtable on the history of Russian sports. The event starts at 12:00 Moscow time.

Representatives of cultural institutions and journalists from different regions of the country will participate via videoconferencing mode, including those where the 2018 World Cup matches will take place. Moscow, Volgograd, Saransk, Sochi, Yekaterinburg, Samara, Kaliningrad and other Russian cities will get in touch.

The round table will feature unique materials from the largest libraries of Russia, as well as cultural and educational projects related to the development of sports in specific regions. Among the key events are the digitization of documents on the history of sports from the collections of the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the National Library of Russia, regional libraries, the creation of electronic collections and the holding of videoconferences and exhibitions dedicated to Russian football.

The Presidential Library will present its own production projects, timed to the FIFA World Cup. They are the exhibition "More than a Game: to the FIFA World Cup in Russia", a video lecture, within the framework of which there will be held a meeting with the European champion in football freestyle Arseniy Klementyev, video recordings with the participation of famous researchers of the history of football, a multimedia exhibition showing materials from the first rules of the game of 1903 to the modern documents that reveal the progress of the construction of the stadium "St. Petersburg", and many others.

Please, note, that entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only upon prior request and upon showing a passport: participants and guests of the event go through entrance № 1, representatives of the media go through entrance № 2.
