
Music of the epoch of Nicholas I to be performed at the Presidential Library
Another concert of the "Music of Russian Statehood" musical and educational project highlighting the epoch of Nicholas I will open at the Presidential Library (Senate Square, 3) on June 27, 2018 at 7 p.m.
It was during the reign of Nicholas I, 185 years ago that the first Russian anthem "God, Save the Tsar" was written. Alexander Myasnikov – the writer and historian, will talk about the anthem, which had remained the musical symbol of the Russian Empire for 84 years, until February 1917.
Taurida State Symphony Orchestra of Leningrad District will perform the anthem to be conducted by Mikhail Golikov.
The second part of the concert will see the performance of Krzysztof Jablonski - one of the world's renowned performers and connoisseurs of Frederic Chopin’s music. The performance of Piano Concerto No. 2 written by Chopin in 1830 is in store, too. Ferenc Liszt used to say that the work "featured moments of striking greatness".
"Music of Russian Statehood" – is a series of ten multimedia concerts accompanied by Alexander Myasnikov’s fascinating narration. All events take place at the Presidential Library.
The concert will be available online on the Presidential Library’s website in «Live Broadcast» section.
