Debut films by young directors "Bravist" and "Philosophy" to be shown and discussed at the meeting of the Presidential Library’s cinema club

October 19, 2018 at 15:00 the Presidential Library and the Youth Center of the Union of Filmmakers of St. Petersburg welcome viewers to the next cinema club meeting, which will be held in the multimedia hall of the library. This time, the subject matter will be works by young filmmakers - films “Philosophy” and “Bravist”, directed by Janis Politov and Evelina Barseghyan.

Translator, theater and cinema actor, TV presenter, blogger, creator of a popular portal - this is Janis Politov, who this time becomes a screenwriter, director and actor of his debut short film “Philosophy”. The young director's first work immediately falls into the selection of the Short film corner of the Cannes Film Festival. After that, “Philosophy” successfully participates in festivals in Russia and abroad.

The film reflects the first encounter of a university student who grew up in the world of simple but unshakable truths of his countrymen from the backwoods, with the pragmatic world of the modern university environment, where a fee for passing the test, coursework, writing a diploma is secretly established. A student of the mid-nineties, passing the exam in philosophy, faced with what he had no idea before, and has had a good life lesson.

The short comedy “Bravist” by Evelina Barseghyan tells about a cynical young man who works as a clacker. He wears a tuxedo and shouts “bravo” in theaters: for money, he “turns on” the hall in performances, creating an artificial success for them. The hero of the film acts confidently, and he is always lucky, he is convinced that everyone pretends, which means that the audience can be easily manipulated. But one day he meets a genuinely sincere girl in the hall and stops clapping in the palm of his hand ... This meeting reverses his ideas about the world.

The meeting of the cinema club will be held in the multimedia hall of the Presidential Library at the address: Senate Square, 3.

Please, note, that the entrance to the Presidential Library is carried out only upon prior request and upon showing a passport: participants and guests of the event go through entrance № 1, representatives of the media go through entrance № 2.
