The film “Valery Gavrilin. Everything in life is music” to be watched and discussed in the Presidential Library

22 October 2019

On October 22, 2019 at 4 p.m. the Presidential Library and the St. Petersburg Heritage and Prospect Foundation invite viewers to the regular meeting of the cinema club on Senate Square, 3 dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the outstanding Russian composer Valery Gavrilin. The program includes a screening of the film by Dmitry Chernetsov “Valery Gavrilin. Everything in life is music”.

The film illustrates life and career of the ingenious Russian composer Valery Gavrilin - a native of Vologda Region, who has become one of its symbols. The film is a kind of reflection on classical and modern music, as well as on the sound environment surrounding a person. Valery Gavrilin, along with famous names (Vasily Vereshchagin, Alexander Yashin, Nikolai Rubtsov, Vasily Belov) is the glory and pride of not only this region, but also Russia as a whole.

The director describes his region where, in his opinion, the composer "took out the main theme of his work". It became the special feature of Gavrilin - the feature of his soul and his music. The film focuses on the problems that worried the composer: ecology of the environment and ecology of the soul, so closely related to the ecology of the sound and musical environment of modern man. As a student, Gavrilin often went on expeditions to the villages to listen to the Russian melos and reflect it in his works. That is why he was called "musical Yesenin".

The cinema club meeting will take place in the multimedia hall of the Presidential Library at Senate Square, 3.
